Golf All Year Round: Why Every Season Is Worth It

Why golf is worth it from spring to winter.

„Golf? That’s a summer thing.“ Hardly. If you limit golf to the warm months, you miss three quarters of the fun. Every season has its own character on the course – especially on the Lower Rhine, where the climate is mild and the season long. A plea for the full golfing year.

Spring: the course wakes up

When the fairways awaken from hibernation, the loveliest time begins for many: fresh green, mild temperatures, the first long evenings. Spring is also the ideal beginner season – start with a trial course now and you will hold your course permit by midsummer with a whole season ahead. At our place in the Nieper Kuhlen there is a bonus: the surrounding nature reserve positively explodes with life – birdsong included with every tee shot.

Summer: high season – with insider tips

Long days, dry fairways, evening rounds into dusk: summer remains the royal season. Two tips from our members: the early morning hours are the best of summer golf – dew-fresh course, soft light, hardly any traffic. And after the round, the clubhouse terrace awaits – the legendary 19th hole. For goosebump golf, book the last tee time of the day and play into the sunset.

Autumn: the connoisseurs‘ secret

Ask experienced golfers about their favourite time and surprisingly many say: autumn. Golden light, quiet fairways, that special clear air – and the colours! Our course with its old trees turns into a painting in October. Sportingly, autumn is ideal for working on technique: the season rush is over, tee times are plentiful, and softer fairways forgive the odd fat shot.

Winter: range, winter greens and anticipation

Yes, golf works in winter too – on the Lower Rhine more often than you would think. On mild, dry days a winter round is special: clear air, empty fairways, hot tea at the halfway house. And when the course takes a break, the driving range remains: practise regularly over winter and you will start spring with a swing the hibernators can only dream of. Pro tip: winter is perfect for technique lessons – every one pays off in spring.

What this means for learning golf

The beautiful consequence: there is no wrong time to start. Spring and summer lure with picture-book conditions, autumn and winter with calm, free tee times and plenty of attention from the pro. Our trial courses run all year – we factor the weather into scheduling quite pragmatically.

365 days of anticipation, four completely different courses for the price of one: that is golf through the year on the Lower Rhine.
