Platzreife: Your Path from Beginner to the Green
Your roadmap from first swing to playing permission.
The „Platzreife“ (course permit) is your licence to play golf in Germany: it entitles you to play on courses – ours and almost everywhere else. Sounds bureaucratic, but it is a very doable, structured entry into the sport. Here is your complete roadmap.
What exactly is the Platzreife?
The course permit certifies three things: you master the basic techniques (tee shot, iron play, chipping, putting), the essential rules, and etiquette – respectful conduct on the course. It is not rocket science: the goal is not to play perfectly, but safely and considerately.
Step 1: The trial course (optional but recommended)
Before investing in a permit course, find out whether golf is fun for you at all. That is what the trial course is for: one or two hours with a pro and rental equipment, no strings attached. Most people know afterwards exactly whether they want to continue. (Spoiler: most do.)
Step 2: The permit course
Your golf pro teaches you systematically: swing technique on the driving range, the short game around the green, putting, plus rules and etiquette. You practise in small groups or one-on-one – and between sessions you can train on our practice facilities as much as you like.
How long does it take? Mostly up to you. With regular practice, many manage the permit in four to eight weeks. No deadline, no pressure.
Step 3: The exam – easier than it sounds
The permit exam usually consists of a theory part (rules and etiquette, mostly multiple choice) and a practical part on the course, where you show that you can play a round safely and at a reasonable pace. Your pro only signs you up when you are ready – the pass rate is accordingly high. It is a milestone to celebrate, not a hurdle to fear.
After the permit: now it really starts
Pay green fees: play as a guest on our 27 holes – and on most other courses in Germany and Europe.
Become a member: if you play regularly, membership pays off – unlimited playing rights, tournaments, training and club life included.
